What is a profit boost worth?

A profit boost raises the winnings on a bet by a fixed percentage — 25%, 50%, sometimes 100%. Unlike a bonus bet, your stake is real money: you lose it if the bet loses. The value comes from the boost pushing your payout above the fair market price for that outcome.

That premium is exactly what makes boosts hedgeable. Once your effective odds beat the market, betting the opposing side at another sportsbook can guarantee a profit whichever way the game goes. The catch is the fine print — max stakes and payout caps quietly shrink many boosts — so the calculator accounts for both before recommending a hedge.

A worked example

25% Boost · $100 at +200, hedged at −220

Boosted bet

Underdog ML

+200 → +250 boosted · Sportsbook A

Stake: $100 cash

Hedge bet

Favorite ML

−220 · Sportsbook B

Stake: $240.63 cash

If the boosted bet wins

+$9.37

If the hedge wins

+$9.38

The 25% boost turned +200 into +250 — enough of an edge over the −220 opposing price to lock in roughly $9.40 of profit on both outcomes. Bigger boosts and longer odds create larger guaranteed margins.

Profit boost questions

What is a profit boost?
A profit boost is a sportsbook promotion that increases the winnings on a bet by a set percentage. A 25% boost on a bet that would normally win $200 pays $250 instead. Your stake is real money and is lost if the bet loses — the boost only changes the payout on a win.
How do boosted odds work?
The boost applies to the profit, not the total payout. A 25% boost on +200 odds turns them into effective +250: a $100 bet wins $250 instead of $200. This calculator converts any base odds and boost percentage into the effective American odds.
Should I use a profit boost on favorites or underdogs?
Longer odds generate more absolute boost value, because the boost multiplies a larger base profit. A 25% boost adds $11 to a $100 bet at -110 but $50 to the same bet at +200. Watch for max stake and max payout caps, which limit how much of that extra value you can capture.
What are max stake and max payout caps?
Most boosts limit the stake the boost applies to (for example, "max $25 wager") or cap the extra winnings. Stake beyond the max earns normal odds, and payouts above the cap are trimmed. Enter both values in the calculator to see the true effective odds after limits.
Can I guarantee a profit from a profit boost?
Often, yes. Because the boost pushes your effective odds above the fair market price, hedging the opposing side at another sportsbook can lock in a small guaranteed profit on both outcomes. Enter hedge odds in the calculator to see the exact hedge stake and locked-in amount.
